26 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Torres! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steigelmann cracks Torres with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Steigelmann scores with a punch to the head. Steigelmann misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Torres counters with a thumping low kick. Steigelmann misses with a hook
and Torres counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Steigelmann misses with a low kick.
Torres looks like he wants to counter punch here. Torres scores with a nice right hand.
Torres sizes up Steigelmann with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Steigelmann bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Torres slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut. Torres throws a jab but it's blocked by Steigelmann. Steigelmann swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Torres counters with a lovely straight right hand! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Torres on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Steigelmann has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Beast in the buildup to the fight. Steigelmann fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Torres manages to avoid it. Steigelmann moves away from the strike by Torres. Steigelmann uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Torres.
Steigelmann scores with a decent looking hook. Steigelmann slips a straight right by Torres.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steigelmann cracks Torres with a big right hand and Torres goes down!
Torres is rocked! Torres tries to strike from the bottom.
Torres is still in real trouble! Can Steigelmann finish him? Steigelmann prevents Torres from getting back to his feet. Torres working a defensive guard here.
Steigelmann is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Torres seems to have recovered his senses. Torres wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Steigelmann looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Torres is pulling down on Steigelmann's head. It's preventing any offense from Steigelmann, at least for the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steigelmann slips under a jab. Steigelmann drops Torres with a big left hand and mounts him. Torres is in big trouble! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Steigelmann thowing shots but they're missing. Torres is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Steigelmann takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Steigelmann avoids the attempt from Torres to control. Steigelmann tries to control but Torres wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Torres wants to hold on but Steigelmann pushes him away. Steigelmann looking to control and managing it successfully. Steigelmann trying to control but Torres is having none of it. Torres has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Steigelmann's lack of action.
Torres is not content to let Steigelmann control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Torres preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Torres wants to control but Steigelmann is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Torres is staying active underneath Steigelmann, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Torres wants to control but Steigelmann is keeping busy and won't allow it. Steigelmann slows the pace down in half guard. Steigelmann trying to control from half guard but Torres is working away.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Good shot there by Steigelmann. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steigelmann misses with a series of wild punches.
Steigelmann misses with a hook. Steigelmann lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Steigelmann closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Torres! Steigelmann dives in looking to finish! Torres is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
