Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mickey Mulligan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tamana Hopoate!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mulligan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hopoate circles away.
Mulligan throws a sloppy head kick and Hopoate moves out of range easily.
Hopoate slips a jab from Mulligan.
Mulligan lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Hopoate sprawling to the canvas. Mulligan follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Hopoate hang on?


Hopoate is rocked!

Mulligan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hopoate is still on wobbly legs! Can Mulligan finish him?
Mulligan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hopoate seems to have recovered his senses.
Mulligan connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hopoate misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hopoate steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mulligan.
Mulligan waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Hopoate.
Hopoate tries for a takedown but Mulligan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hopoate looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mulligan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hopoate shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hopoate stops Mulligan from getting back to his feet.

Hopoate is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mulligan defends it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hopoate stops Mulligan from getting back to his feet.
Mulligan is breathing heavily.
Hopoate is taking a breather. Mulligan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mulligan misses with the combination.
Mulligan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hopoate moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mickey Mulligan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mulligan throws an uppercut from hell that sends Hopoate clean off his feet! He's out cold! Mulligan stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mickey Mulligan!
