Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Julio Chaves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Hojackin! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaves misses with a straight right. Hojackin dodges the punch combination from Chaves.
A punch lands to the side of Hojackin 's head but he takes it in his stride. Hojackin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hojackin there as he acknowledges the shot. Chaves throws a hook to the side of Hojackin's head but Hojackin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hojackin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. We've been informed that Hojackin has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Chaves scores with a sloppy right hand. Hojackin should have avoided that one. Chaves throws a good cross that connects.
Hojackin wants to slow Chaves down by chopping away at his legs. Chaves swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Nice uppercut there from Chaves. Chaves connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Hojackin covering up! Chaves comes in with a big uppercut and Hojackin goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Julio Chaves! Julio Chaves decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
