Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Georges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Murray! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Georges gets tackled into the cage by Murray. Murray maintains the clinch. Georges looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Good anti-grappling being displayed by Murray as Georges tries to tie him up. Murray breaks the clinch.
Georges wants to clinch. Georges definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Georges avoids a punch combination nicely.
Murray will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Murray scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Murray clinches up against the cage. Georges breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A looping hook to the body misses from Murray. Georges does a little dance to reset his feet. A right-left combo lands from Murray.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murray connects with a jab.
Georges is rocked! Murray forces Georges back against the cage and clinches. Oh Georges is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Georges has Murray pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Murray manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Georges seems to have got his legs back now. Murray lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Georges looking to slow down the pace here. Murray breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Murray misses with a head kick.
Georges thinks about countering with a head kick. Murray drops Georges with a beautiful combination! Georges stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Murray is looking for the KO! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Murray moves into the clinch. Georges jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murray walks away with a smile on his face. Georges gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Murray dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Georges walks straight into a right hand from Murray - that's dropped him! Murray jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Georges from any more punishment! Georges complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Lee Murray!
