PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamal JonesJr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Sleeper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sleeper's choice of entrance music: Love me Sexy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamal JonesJr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Sleeper!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
JonesJr avoids a punch combination nicely.

JonesJr gets a clinch.

JonesJr manages to break the clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from JonesJr lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sleeper has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sleeper and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
JonesJr tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sleeper swivels and escapes.
JonesJr lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Sleeper is looking to slow JonesJr down with leg kicks.
Sleeper throws a wild body kick that JonesJr sees coming a mile off.
JonesJr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sleeper's waist but Sleeper gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing JonesJr off to one side.
Sleeper clinches but JonesJr breaks the clinch

and JonesJr counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sleeper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. JonesJr manages to get himself to full guard.

Sleeper trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sleeper looking to sit in guard and control but JonesJr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sleeper wants to sweep here but JonesJr controlling him for the moment.

Sleeper throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
JonesJr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
JonesJr is looking to stand up but Sleeper won't let him.
JonesJr scoring with some ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sleeper misses with a jab, cross combination.

Sleeper drives through and clinches with JonesJr against the cage.

Sleeper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
JonesJr fails with an attempt to clinch.
JonesJr throws a nice looking combination but Sleeper bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
JonesJr keeps the fight on the outside.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

JonesJr scores a takedown into full mount!
Sleeper sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
JonesJr is breathing heavily.
Sleeper wants to get back to full guard.
Sleeper trying to control from the bottom.
JonesJr trying to control from Sleeper's half guard. Sleeper has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Sleeper manages to escape and get back to his feet.
JonesJr takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Sleeper shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sleeper connects with a nice short shot to JonesJr's temple.

JonesJr tries to get to full guard but Sleeper has control of the leg.
Sleeper uses his free foot to push down on JonesJr's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for JonesJr.
Sleeper scoring with strikes but JonesJr is staying in there.
Sleeper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sleeper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sleeper cracks JonesJr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Sleeper lands a heavy elbow.
Sleeper punishing his opponent with strikes.
Sleeper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
JonesJr is trying to escape the mount.
Sleeper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
JonesJr can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close round but Tyler Sleeper will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Sleeper looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sleeper tries to stand but his hand is stuck under JonesJr.

Sleeper throws a leg kick which misses JonesJr's front leg but catches the back leg as JonesJr tries to avoid it.
Sleeper fails in his attempt to clinch.

JonesJr moves into the clinch successfully.

Sleeper manages to break the clinch.
Sleeper swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and JonesJr counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sleeper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
JonesJr throws a head kick that misses.
Sleeper lands a jab to the head.
Sleeper throws a combination that misses
and JonesJr counters with a two punch combo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sleeper throws a quick head kick that skims the top of JonesJr's head.

JonesJr bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
JonesJr prevents Sleeper from escaping the position.
JonesJr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sleeper keeps working.

Sleeper bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Sleeper fails with an attempt to clinch.
JonesJr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sleeper swats him away and circles back towards the center.
JonesJr throws a head kick that misses.
Sleeper lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Sleeper connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Sleeper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jamal JonesJr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sleeper throws a sloppy head kick and JonesJr moves out of range easily.
Sleeper throws a leg kick but JonesJr moved away.

Sleeper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sleeper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks JonesJr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

JonesJr pushes Sleeper off and gets back to his feet.

JonesJr drives through and clinches with Sleeper against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sleeper is trying to break the clinch but JonesJr has him pressed against the cage.

Sleeper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

JonesJr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sleeper pushes JonesJr off and gets back to his feet.

Sleeper throws a body kick that misses.
Sleeper wants to clinch but JonesJr slips to the side

and JonesJr counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by JonesJr.
Sleeper is looking to break free of the clinch but JonesJr has double underhooks.
Sleeper wants to get back to striking at distance but JonesJr won't allow it.

Sleeper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
JonesJr does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

JonesJr is working an open guard so Sleeper takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sleeper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
JonesJr throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

JonesJr fails with a takedown attempt.

Sleeper tries to land knees in the clinch but JonesJr avoids the damage to the body.
Sleeper gets underhooks to prevent JonesJr's takedown attempt.
JonesJr goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sleeper prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamal JonesJr. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sleeper pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sleeper moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
JonesJr throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Sleeper wants to stand but JonesJr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Tyler Sleeper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sleeper throws a jab but it's blocked by JonesJr.
JonesJr pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Sleeper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sleeper throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sleeper takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Sleeper doesn't manage to clinch there - JonesJr circles away.
Sleeper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts JonesJr as he jumps to the side.

Sleeper gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

JonesJr wants to control from the top but Sleeper keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sleeper has control of JonesJr's left arm, preventing JonesJr from doing any damage.
Sleeper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in JonesJr's guard.

JonesJr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sleeper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

JonesJr is working an open guard so Sleeper takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
JonesJr misses with a double jab.
Tyler Sleeper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
JonesJr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sleeper was well out of range. Poor timing from JonesJr.

Sleeper changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. JonesJr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

JonesJr is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Sleeper is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

JonesJr is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sleeper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

JonesJr tries to lock up and control but Sleeper gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sleeper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sleeper breaks from JonesJr's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Sleeper has control of JonesJr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and JonesJr regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Sleeper looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
JonesJr is trying to escape the mount.

Jamal JonesJr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyler Sleeper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I've got Sleeper winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
