Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay J Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Morris! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson tries to keep at a distance but Morris has taken the fight into the clinch. Jackson tries to pull guard but Morris won't allow it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Morris - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Morris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jackson misses with a body kick. Morris lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Jackson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Morris's head.
It looks like Jack Morris has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morris dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Morris's head and hops out. Morris keeps the fight on the outside. Morris pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Jackson. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morris can do anything to dispel that myth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jackson landing a few strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morris is looking for a sweep. Morris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jackson controls the position. Jackson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jackson wants to stand but Morris has his arm trapped. Jackson working away. Morris is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Morris is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jackson is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Jackson lands a heavy elbow.
Morris is rocked! Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jackson postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Morris badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Jackson around the waist but Jackson pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Jackson is the winner by TKO! Jackson jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay J Jackson!
