Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darius Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vakarchuk ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Vakarchuk changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Vakarchuk takes a body punch but keeps moving. Miller swings widly with a right hand
and Vakarchuk counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vakarchuk. Vakarchuk throws a big elbow that misses. Vakarchuk wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vakarchuk is looking to work some ground and pound but Miller has wrist control. Vakarchuk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Vakarchuk throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vakarchuk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vakarchuk throwing strikes but missing. Miller working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vakarchuk. Vakarchuk looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vakarchuk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily. Vakarchuk has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Miller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vakarchuk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miller has managed to get both his arms back between Vakarchuk's legs - danger averted. Vakarchuk wants to control but Miller passes easily into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller prevents Vakarchuk from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vakarchuk looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Vakarchuk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Vakarchuk trying to hold on to Miller's head to control him but Miller postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vakarchuk looking for subs from the bottom but Miller mounts him! Vakarchuk is trying to escape the mount.
Vakarchuk felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Vakarchuk wants to hold on but Miller pushes him away. Vakarchuk tries to get back to half guard but can't. Vakarchuk tries to lock up and control but Miller gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Miller tries to control but Vakarchuk wriggling away. That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller trying to control but he's not successful this time. Miller is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Miller throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Vakarchuk is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Vakarchuk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Darius Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vakarchuk fails with the takedown and Miller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vakarchuk slips a jab and a cross from Miller.

Miller misses the jab. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Vakarchuk! But no joy. The fight stays on the outside here - Miller looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Vakarchuk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Miller is pushing Vakarchuk's head away, looking to escape. Vakarchuk manages to hold on to the position though. Miller takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Vakarchuk throwing shots but Miller is blocking nicely. Vakarchuk is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Vakarchuk looks to land a strike but Miller avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Vakarchuk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vakarchuk is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Vakarchuk looking to pass the guard. Vakarchuk showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Miller rolls with it to try and escape but Vakarchuk cranks on the arm and Miller is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
