PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cain Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Pratchett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir's entrance music is Sub-Mission. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cain Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Terry Pratchett!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pratchett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mir tries to avoid it but Pratchett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mir to the ground. Mir escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pratchett misses with a wild combination.
Pratchett shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mir as he avoids it easily.

Pratchett moves into range and clinches up with Mir.
Pratchett managing to block the knees to the body from Mir.

Mir jumps into guard, dragging Pratchett to the mat.
Pratchett with a flurry of punches that miss.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mir is on top in guard.
Mir lands a couple of elbows.
Mir slips nicely into half guard.
Pratchett punching from the bottom.

Pratchett is defending against the submission attempts here by Mir.
Pratchett wants to control but Mir is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pratchett is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mir moves into full mount! Pratchett won't be happy about that!
A nice elbow there by Mir.

Mir landing strikes from the mount and Pratchett is in trouble!
Mir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pratchett keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pratchett sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mir passes the guard and advances to mount!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Mir is going olschool here, as he tries to force Pratchett to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pratchett shrugs it off.

Pratchett tries to improve his position but instead Mir has taken his back!
Pratchett takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Mir lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Pratchett hold on?!
Pratchett looking very determined here, making life difficult for Mir.
Pratchett is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Mir off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Mir is landing with strikes from the back.

Pratchett is rocked!

Mir is working for a rear naked choke. Pratchett is not defending it well and Mir has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Pratchett refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Pratchett's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
