PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Felix Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Parent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bobby Parent was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felix Storm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Parent!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm throws a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circling - Storm throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've been told by Storm's head coaches at LOD: Club Pain that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Storm rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Storm takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Storm missing with a left hand there. Parent was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The fighters circle momentarily. Parent darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Parent has Storm up against the cage in a clinch.
Storm lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Storm gets through Parent's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Parent escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Parent does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Parent walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Parent takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Parent misses with an uppercut. Storm saw that one coming.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Storm looks to score with a jab to the body but Parent is just out of range.
Storm displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parent throws out the jab.
Parent throws a jab but it's blocked by Storm.
Storm misses with a lunging right hand
and Parent cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Parent fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Storm looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Parent uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Storm.
Storm connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Parent momentarily.
Parent uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Storm.
Storm misses the jab.

and Storm takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Storm ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Storm throws a right hand that Parent ducks under and follows up with a left that Parent also avoids with ease.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Storm throws out a loose jab but Parent uses good head movement to avoid it.

Storm circles away from the clinch attempt.
It looked like Storm was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Parent.
Parent slips a jab from Storm.
Parent wants to slow Storm down by chopping away at his legs.
Storm is looking to counter punch.
Storm keeps the fight on the outside.

and Storm counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Parent takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Parent looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Storm is fending him off so far but Parent persists. Nope, Storm circles away and we're back to standing.
Parent is still on wobbly legs! Can Storm finish him?

and Parent counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Storm gets caught napping as Parent dives in and scores a takedown. Storm manages to retain guard.

Parent won't allow Storm to get back to his feet.

Storm keeping moving, preventing Parent from controlling successfully.
Parent lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parent throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Parent looking to sit in guard and control but Storm gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Parent wants to sweep but no luck.

Parent is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Storm defends well.

Storm is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Parent has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Storm looks to land a right hand but Parent moved out of range.
Parent looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Storm scores with a jab. Parent acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Parent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bobby Parent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Storm takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Parent tries to close the distance and clinch up but Storm swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Parent lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Parent.
Storm loads up on a big right hand but Parent slips the punch.
Storm backing away here, and Parent unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Storm lands a jab to Parent's midsection.
Storm throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Parent on the side of the head.
Parent looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Parent shoots for a takedown but Storm saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Felix Storm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Parent.

Parent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Storm is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Parent presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Storm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parent swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Parent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Storm gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Storm decides to stand back up. Storm steps back and let's Parent get back to his feet.
Parent dives in and grabs Storm's left leg, looking for a takedown. Storm pushes down on Parent's head and hops out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Storm thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nice defenses there by Parent.

Storm thuds his right hand into Parent's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Storm fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Parent manages to avoid it.
Storm shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Parent eats them both and turns towards Storm to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Parent throws a low kick but Storm avoids it.

and Storm counters with a stiff right hand.
Parent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A quick step to the side and Storm tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Storm lands a nice hook to Parent's body. Parent takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Storm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Parent circles away quickly and effectively.

and Parent makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Storm darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Storm leaves Parent with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Parent scores with a head kick. Storm tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Parent just misses with a punch to the body.
The fighters circling - Storm throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Storm lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Parent falls backwards - clearly groggy! Storm dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Felix Storm!
After the fight, Felix Storm was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
