Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Todd Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cannon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Conquering- Black Moor. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Todd Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Jensen! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cannon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jensen tries to avoid it but Cannon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jensen to the ground. Jensen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jensen drives through with a takedown into Cannon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cannon tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Cannon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jensen stopping the sweep attempt from Cannon. Jensen wants to control from the top but Cannon keeps moving. Cannon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jensen defends well. Cannon keeping moving, preventing Jensen from controlling successfully. My spies in Barbell Brigade - $1000 inform me that Jensen has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cannon working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jensen has passed into half guard!

That's one minute gone in the round. Jensen is stalling here. Cannon is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jensen seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cannon has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Jensen is trying to improve his position. Cannon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cannon tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Jensen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jensen manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cannon's best efforts. Jensen manages to get to full guard.
Jensen is looking for a triangle but Cannon pushes his legs off easily.
Jensen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cannon manages to get himself to full guard.

Jensen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cannon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jensen has managed to get both his arms back between Cannon's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jensen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cannon's guard. Jensen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cannon defends it well. Cannon is looking to improve his position.
Jensen passes to full mount! Jensen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cannon turns into him and now he's in Jensen's guard.
Jensen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cannon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jensen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cannon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cannon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cannon's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cannon wants to pass the guard but Jensen is keeping the position. Jensen keeping moving, preventing Cannon from controlling successfully. Jensen is trying to control the position but Cannon postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cannon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jensen looking for a sweep. Not yet Jensen, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Cannon trying to keep a closed guard but Jensen is proving a slippery customer.
Jensen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Jensen has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Jensen has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Cannon is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Jensen yanks on the arm and Cannon is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Jensen.
