Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cheik Imbula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Imbula comes to the cage accompanied by ~Apache~. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cheik Imbula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Ray!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray looks to throw the jab but Imbula is out of range.
Ray connects with a single shot there.
Ray takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Jake Ray has been cut.
Ray throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ray. Imbula shrugs it off though.
Ray has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Imbula.
Imbula connects with a body shot that sends Ray's belly button to the back.
Ray has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Imbula.

Ray closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ray misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Imbula tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Imbula's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ray lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Imbula down.

Ray tries to score with some ground and pound. Imbula controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Imbula tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Imbula struggling a bit here.
Ray trying to control the position but Imbula is working away.
Imbula is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Imbula manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Ray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Imbula keeping moving, preventing Ray from controlling successfully.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ray avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ray lands a couple of elbows.
Imbula pulls Ray in close to his closed guard and prevents Ray from doing any damage or advancing position.
Ray with a flurry of punches that miss.
Imbula keeping moving, preventing Ray from controlling successfully.
Ray throws an elbow that misses. Imbula uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ray's guard. Nice move by Imbula!


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ray is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Imbula pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ray is keeping the position for now.
Ray wants to sweep but no luck.
Imbula trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Imbula is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Imbula wants to control from the top but Ray keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Imbula takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ray throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ray looks to throw the jab but Imbula is out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Imbula misses the target.
Imbula scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ray doesn't seem bothered though.
Ray lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Imbula at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Imbula lands with a cross.

Ray tries to keep at a distance but Imbula has taken the fight into the clinch.

Imbula escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Ray will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jake Ray's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Ray does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Imbula walks into a straight right hand from Ray.
Imbula misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ray attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Ray avoids the body shot from Imbula.
Ray misses with a wild body shot.
Donk. Ray catches Imbula right on the button with a cross.
Jake Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Ray, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Imbula takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Imbula connects with the punch.
Ray moves away from the strike by Imbula.
Imbula misses with a head kick.
Imbula throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Imbula looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ray jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ray.
Imbula throws a lazy right hand but Ray sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ray is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Ray blocks a leg kick.
Imbula ducks under a wild hook from Ray.
Imbula wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ray misses with a low kick.
The crowd cheers as Imbula lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ray doesn't seem phased though.
Ray throws a hook but Imbula avoids it easily.
Ray misses with a hook
enabling Imbula to counter with a crisp jab.


Ray is rocked!
That kick from Imbula tenderised Ray's leg. Ray is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ray is still on wobbly legs! Can Imbula finish him?
Ray misses with a takedown
and Imbula counters with a leg kick.
Imbula lands an uppercut, right on the button! Ray tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cheik Imbula!
Cheik Imbula thanked the fans post fight for their support.
Jake Ray spoke after the fight, saying 'Full credit to my opponent for bringing his A-game. Much respect. I got to work on things and I will get back in the gym to work my tail off and improve. '.
