Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rutger Van Alst!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Van Alst counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Van Alst throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gonzalez scores with a jab. Van Alst acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


It looks like Rutger Van Alst has been cut.
Van Alst throws a head kick but Gonzalez moves out of range.
Van Alst connects with a high kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Van Alst blocks the leg kick.
Gonzalez looks for the body kick but Van Alst saw that one coming.
Van Alst throws a head kick that misses.
Van Alst avoids the head kick by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van Alst moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Van Alst tries to keep at a distance but Gonzalez has taken the fight into the clinch.
Gonzalez lands with a light punch inside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Van Alst is trying to break the clinch but Gonzalez has him pressed against the cage.

Van Alst wanted to stand there but Gonzalez had control of the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gonzalez is on top in guard.

Gonzalez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Alst swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Alst is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gonzalez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Van Alst stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The crowd cheers as Van Alst lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gonzalez doesn't seem phased though.
Gonzalez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Van Alst throws a big counter head kick but Gonzalez avoids it with no problem.
Gonzalez takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Van Alst wants to counter the offense by Gonzalez and move into the clinch position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
