Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Ryan! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan goes for a double leg but Burns avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Burns continues to drive forward. Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ryan. Burns gets a clinch. Burns prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jimmy Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Ryan. Burns prevents the takedown attempt.
Burns lands a takedown into guard.
Burns is looking to stand up but Ryan won't let him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burns accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Ryan closes the distance and clinches up with Burns, looking for a takedown. Ryan pushes Burns against the cage but Burns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ryan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ryan working away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burns takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ryan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Burns avoids it really well and circles away. Burns feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Burns has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ryan holds on and takes a little breather. Ryan not landing any meaningful shots this time. Burns wants to control but Ryan is keeping busy and won't allow it. Burns is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ryan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burns is trying to get back to full guard. Burns has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ryan is on him like a limpet, forcing Burns back against the cage.

Ryan looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ryan is pulling down on Burns's head. It's preventing any offense from Burns, at least for the moment. Ryan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Burns wants to stand but Ryan is controlling his posture from full guard. Burns wants to stand and escape but instead Ryan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
