Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cartel Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor comes into the arena with The Foggy Dew blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Conor McGregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cartel Lopez! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGregor cracks a nice hook into Lopez's ribs. McGregor doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lopez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. McGregor tries to pull guard but Lopez holds him up against the cage and eventually McGregor drops back down to his feet.
McGregor drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lopez pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conor McGregor. That's going to take a lot out of him. McGregor misses with a body shot
and Lopez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for McGregor! Lopez passes to full mount! That's big trouble for McGregor! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lopez has control of McGregor's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McGregor regains control of the situation pretty easily.
McGregor is squirming around, avoiding Lopez's attempts to control the action. Lopez has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at School of Hard Knocks (Elite Training for $225). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lopez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGregor is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGregor and Lopez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lopez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lopez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Lopez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lopez wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGregor keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lopez advances nicely into full mount. Lopez wants to finish this one by submission but McGregor is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lopez. Lopez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McGregor is surviving well by controlling Lopez's body position as best he can. Lopez tries to control but McGregor wriggling away. Lopez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McGregor has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McGregor!

McGregor throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lopez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McGregor won't allow Lopez to sweep him here. McGregor postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lopez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lopez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McGregor tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lopez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGregor is on top in guard.

He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Lopez off and cradles McGregor's limp body as Lopez celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Cartel Lopez! Cartel Lopez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. The defeated Conor McGregor had this to say: 'The opponent was the better fighter and the win backs that up. All I gotta do is come back stronger and get that 'W' '.
