PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Delled Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Creed comes into the arena with It's a fight blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Creed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delled Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Creed lands a two punch combo.
Creed uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Armstrong.
Armstrong has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Creed finds it's way round the side to connect with Armstrong's head.

Armstrong pushes Creed up against the cage in a clinch.
Creed is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Armstrong gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Creed regains guard.
Creed is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Armstrong dives into side control.

Armstrong lands a decent elbow from side control.
Armstrong should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Creed tries to bench press Armstrong off him but Armstrong keeps the position.
Armstrong working the head and body with strikes.
Creed struggling a bit here.
Armstrong connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Creed some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Creed trying to remain calm as Armstrong controls from the top position.
It looks like Armstrong might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Armstrong decides to stand back up.
Armstrong walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
A punch lands to the side of Armstrong 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Creed connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Creed lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Armstrong takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jab from Creed.
Jay Creed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Armstrong shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Armstrong is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Armstrong clinches up against the cage.
Creed goes for a takedown in the clinch but Armstrong prevents it.
Creed is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Armstrong dives in for a single leg takedown but Creed sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Creed on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Armstrong throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Creed's head.
Armstrong on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Armstrong drives through with a takedown into Creed's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Armstrong is pushing down on Creed's leg trying to pass to half guard. Creed is fighting to maintain full guard but Armstrong has managed to sneak the leg through.
Creed wants to get back to full guard.
Armstrong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Creed is breathing heavily.

Armstrong seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Creed has recovered full guard.
Creed not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Armstrong makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Creed looking for a sweep. Not yet Creed, not yet.
Armstrong is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Creed has an active guard here but Armstrong has managed to pass into half guard.
Creed is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Armstrong scores with a couple of nice shots.

Armstrong moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Creed.
The referee asks Armstrong politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Armstrong prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Delled Armstrong will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Armstrong is defended easily by Creed.
An attempted straight right counter from Creed misses the target.

Armstrong takes the fight into the clinch.
Creed looking for a takedown.
Armstrong changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Creed fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Armstrong shoots for a double leg takedown but Creed sprawls well. He's pushed Armstrong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jay Creed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Delled Armstrong.
Armstrong takes one on the button.

Creed throws a leg kick but Armstrong checks it.

Armstrong clinches.

Armstrong breaks the clinch.
Armstrong moves forwards but Creed connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nice body punch from Armstrong.
Creed misses with a double jab.
Armstrong tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Creed defends well and Armstrong ends up having to push Creed into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jay Creed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Creed scores with a shot to the body.
Creed throws a left and a right that both miss

and Armstrong counters with a nice double leg into side control. Creed won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Creed wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Armstrong has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Creed's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Creed is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Armstrong!
