Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Schilling! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Cox! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cox fails to land the takedown. Schilling scores with a sloppy right hand. Cox should have avoided that one. Schilling misses with a right hand and Cox counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Cox cracks Schilling with a right hand to the side of the head. James Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cox throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Schilling sees it coming and avoids it easily. A telegraphed right hand from Cox misses the target. Nice shot lands for Cox. Schilling throws a leg kick but Cox sees it coming and moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cox misses with a two punch combination.
Schilling tries to clinch but Cox moves out of range. Cox fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schilling avoids it really well and circles away. Schilling swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cox throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cox throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schilling's waist but Schilling gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cox off to one side. It looked like Schilling wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Joe Schilling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Cox. Cox is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schilling. Schilling tries to clinch up but Cox circles away and keeps his distance. Cox tries to move into range but Schilling moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Cox throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cox takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Cox on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Cox avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Schilling throws a nice inside leg kick. Cox has a takedown stuffed. Schilling has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Netherlands Top Team & KT in the buildup to the fight. Schilling bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. An attempted straight right counter from Schilling misses the target. Cox misses with a wild combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cox ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Schilling moves away. Cox just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromSchilling. Cox lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Joe Schilling is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Schilling stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schilling wants it to stay on the feet. Cox shoots in looking for a takedown. Schilling tries to sprawl out of it but Cox keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schilling manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cox takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Cox comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Cox swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. The fighters circling - Schilling throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Schilling looks to score with a jab to the body but Cox is just out of range. Cox throws an overhand right that lands on Schilling's shoulder, as Schilling tries to avoid the shot. Schilling throwing a counter right hand but Cox manages to avoid it.

A little feinted left hand from Schilling on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Schilling throws out a powerful jab. Cox looks to land a left hand but Schilling moved out of range nicely. Schilling moves out of range as Cox strikes. Schilling connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

and Schilling counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. A jab from Schilling finds it's way through Cox's defenses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cox swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Schilling blocks a jab. Cox looks for a takedown but Schilling sprawls well. Cox misses with an uppercut. Schilling saw that one coming. An attempted straight right counter from Schilling misses the target. Cox misses with a lunging right hand
and Schilling makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. A left lands for Cox. Cox throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Schilling misses with a wild body shot. Cox lands with a shot to the body. Cox's corner calls for a 1-2. Cox obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Joe Schilling will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Cox moves into range and connects with a jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Schilling thuds a left hand into Cox's body. Cox lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Schilling at a distance.

Cox throws a looping overhand right but Schilling ducks down to avoid it. Schilling ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cox moves away. Cox avoids the body shot from Schilling.
Schilling connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A nice leg kick lands there from Schilling. Cox lands a glancing blow to the side of Schilling's head. Schilling takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Schilling lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cox's sensitive parts. Cox feints and as Schilling raises his hands in defense, Cox changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Cox sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Schilling's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Schilling is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cox is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cox is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cox is looking for a kimura but Schilling is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cox to get the leverage. Schilling trying to control here.
Cox in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Schilling tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Cox!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Cox! James Cox tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
