PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peaky Blinder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Easton Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blinder comes into the arena with Dave not Dave - Cold blood blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Easton Brooks was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peaky Blinder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Easton Brooks!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blinder ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brooks throws out a loose jab but Blinder uses good head movement to avoid it.
Brooks misses with an uppercut. Blinder saw that one coming.
Blinder was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Blinder fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A big right from Brooks misses.
Brooks throws a hook but Blinder avoids it easily.
A slow jab from Brooks misses its intended target.
Blinder slips a jab from Brooks.
Blinder seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Blinder uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brooks.
Brooks takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Brooks scores with the left hand. Blinder knows he should have avoided that one.
Blinder falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Brooks to counter with a crisp jab.
Brooks missing with a left hand there. Blinder was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Brooks misses with a hook. Blinder ducked under it nicely.
We've been told by Blinder's head coaches at Abobomination Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Brooks swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Blinder.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blinder delivers a nice body kick.
Blinder misses with a two punch combination.
Easton Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blinder moves out of range of the strikes.
Blinder misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Brooks.

Brooks throws a hook but Blinder avoids it easily.

Blinder closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brooks to the mat! Brooks manages to get full guard.

Brooks manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Blinder has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Brooks is trying to keep an underhook but Blinder manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Blinder tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brooks manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Blinder manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brooks on his heels. He'll look to pass Brooks's guard now, I'm sure.

Brooks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blinder is aware though and is defending well.
Blinder tries to stand but Brooks is controlling from the bottom.

Brooks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Blinder defends it easily.
Blinder stands up over Brooks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Blinder in particular looking to stall.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks pushes Blinder off looking to stand but Blinder dives back in and keeps control.

Blinder connects with a nice looking jab.
Brooks throws a hook but Blinder blocks it.
Brooks lands a glancing blow to the side of Blinder's head.
Blinder lets loose with a powerful body kick. Brooks will feel that in the morning.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Peaky Blinder will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Blinder lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Brooks misses with an uppercut. Blinder saw that one coming.
Brooks avoids a kick to the body.

Blinder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brooks looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Brooks is trying to control Blinder's posture but Blinder avoids it.

Blinder decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Brooks misses with an uppercut

and Blinder counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Blinder scores with a nice hook to the head.
Blinder lands on the inside with an uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Blinder takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Blinder swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Peaky Blinder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Brooks misses with a straight left.
Blinder scores with a head kick. Brooks tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Brooks takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Blinder closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Blinder lands in his opponent's guard.

Brooks looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blinder wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.
Blinder works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Brooks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blinder is working away from the top position though.

Blinder ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Blinder scores with a crisp jab that stopped Brooks in his tracks.

Blinder wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Blinder stuns Brooks with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Blinder bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Blinder lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Blinder is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brooks can do to turn this around?

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Blinder, right into the meat.
Brooks is still on wobbly legs! Can Blinder finish him?
Brooks gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Brooks tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Blinder is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Brooks buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Brooks!! Brooks is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Blinder throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peaky Blinder!
