PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogue Four (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake comes into the arena with The Pretty Reckless - Take me down blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse Blake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rogue Four!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blake moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Blake shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Four as he jumps to the side.
Blake moves into range and connects with a jab.
Four steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Blake. That one must have hurt.
Four shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blake pinned against the cage. Blake gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Blake throws a quick counter head kick but Four was just out of range.
We've been told by Blake's head coaches at Abobomination Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Blake wants to clinch.
A little jabbing left from Four on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blake looks to land a combination but Four avoids it well.
Blake fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Blake misses with a double jab.
Blake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Four darts in looking for a takedown but Blake gets double underhooks and turns Four into the cage.
Blake misses with a straight right.
Blake throws a nice outside leg kick.
Blake scores with a punch to the head.

Blake gets a takedown into half guard.
Four is looking to improve his position.

Four looking for submissions off his back.

Four is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Blake pulls his head out easily.
Blake tries to pass to full mount but Four defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blake wants to stand up but Four has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blake not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Four trying to hold on to Blake's head to control him but Blake postures up.

Four looking for submissions off his back.
Four is looking for a sweep. Blake is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Blake stands up from half guard.
Four has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Blake lands a left and a right that send Four crashing to the mat, dazed. Blake thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Blake throws a nice outside leg kick.
Blake throws a nice looking combination but Four bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Blake circles away from the clinch attempt.
A chopping leg kick lands by Blake.
Blake fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Blake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Four on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Blake gets the takedown into side control.
Blake controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Blake scoring with punches from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Four is looking to reverse the position.
Four is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Four trying to control here.
Blake moves nicely into side control.

Blake stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Blake feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.


Four is rocked!

Blake decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Four, up you get!
Blake rushes Four with punches - Four moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Four goes down! Blake follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesse Blake!
Jesse Blake decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
