8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AC Slater! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slater's hands are dropping dangerously low here and John connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Slater scrambles back to his feet. Slater will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. John tests Slater's chin there with a solid looking shot. John throws a leg kick which misses Slater's front leg but catches the back leg as Slater tries to avoid it. Nice straight punches there by John. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of John. John ducks under a wild hook from Slater. Slater swings widly with a right hand
and John counters with a lovely straight right hand! John fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Slater is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nice uppercut lands for John. That snapped Slater's head back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. John scores with a hook to the body. Slater takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. John scoring well with a low kick there.
A cross from John lands. It looks like John has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. John fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slater manages to avoid it. And Slater tries to counter it with a takedown but John pushes his down on his head and steps out. and John counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Finkle John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. John keeps Slater at a distance using the push kick. John tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Slater was well out of range. Poor timing from John. Slater drives through with a takedown into guard. John utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Finkle John is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Slater drops John with a beautiful combination! John stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Slater is looking for the KO!
John is rocked! John takes a swing at Slater's ribcage but misses. Oh John is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! John feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slaters jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! John seems to have got his legs back now. Slater takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. John showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slater.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
John throws a big shot that misses. Slater unleashes a big counter combination but John bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. John scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Slater misses with a two punch combination.
Slater defending well as John loads up on a big left hand. Slater shoots in but John avoids the takedown attempt easily. John feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slaters jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Slater cracks John with a right hand to the side of the head. Slater misses with a few strikes there.
John appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. John looks for the body kick but Slater saw that one coming. Slater on the wrong end of a nice jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slater gets cracked there but stands up to it.
John attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A cross from Slater lands. John stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Slater throws a predictable looking body shot
and John counters with a lovely straight right hand! John leaves Slater with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Finkle John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AC Slater. Slater throws a right and a left that John avoids nicely. Slater throws an uppercut from half a mile away. John sees it coming and avoids it easily. A jab from John misses. John misses with a body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Slater throws a wild combination but nothing lands. John defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Slater. John lands a nice shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slater manages to avoid it. Slater walks into a stiff left hand from John. John is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Slater. Slater tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts John, as that shot connected.
John fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Slater shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. John buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Slater crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from John - the referee stops the clock and Slater gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says John. Slater manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. John tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Slater was well out of range. Poor timing from John. The crowd cheers as John lands an impressive looking overhand right. Slater doesn't seem phased though. John connects with the punch. John throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Slater. John throws a head kick that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John throws a lazy right hand but Slater sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Slater misses with a two punch combination.
John tried to counter with a leg kick but Slater avoided it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. John connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Slater uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Slater lands a jab. John cracks Slater with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Slater thows a left - swing and a miss! John connects with a single shot there. Slater misses with a hook

That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater uses good head movement to avoid the hook from John. Slater is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Slater connects with a good right hand that stumbles John. John circles away out of range and recomposes himself. John is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slater can do to turn this around? John looks to land a right hand but Slater moved out of range. Slater moves out of range of the strikes. John misses with a jab to the body
and John takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. John connects with a leg kick. Slater looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. John waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Slater. Slater throws a combination that misses and John counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Slater has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. John fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Slater on the side of the head. John smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Slater defending well as John loads up on a big left hand. Slater takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Slater looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? John is fending him off so far but Slater persists. Nope, John circles away and we're back to standing. Finkle John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AC Slater.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. John scores with a hook. John walks into a straight right hand from Slater. John thows a body kick. Slater tries to catch it but that hurt him. John lands a glancing blow to the side of Slater's head. A slow jab from John misses its intended target. John looks to score with a jab to the body but Slater is just out of range. A head kick from John lands but Slater takes it in his stride. Slater moves away from the strike by John. Nice shot lands for Slater. Slater ducks under a wild hook from John. Slater drops down looking to force a counter takedown but John defends it well. Slater has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. John walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. John's jab looks to have found its range, popping Slater under the eye. John avoids a punch combination nicely.

Finkle John dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

John scores with a jab. John turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Slater might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

John was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Slater misses with a few strikes there.
Nice uppercut there from John. John thows a leg kick but Slater checks it and Slater counters with a single leg into guard. John didn't expect that. John pulls Slater in close to prevent any damage. Slater trying to control but John is working from the bottom. Slater throws a big elbow that misses. John escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Slater gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Slater with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Slater is looking to work some ground and pound but John has wrist control. Slater chips away with some ground and pound. John is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Slater throws a big right hand that misses. Slater scores with a decent looking elbow strike. John manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slater manages to get himself to full guard.
John is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Slater wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. John controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. He pushes John off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. John lands with a hook. Slater tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Slater uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from John.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Slater shoots in looking for a takedown. John tries to sprawl out of it but Slater keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. John manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Slater on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
AC Slater has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Slater throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Finkle John. Well I reckon that's a shut out for John, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Finkle John! After the fight, Finkle John was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
