Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janek Kochanowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kochanowski's choice of entrance music: Sting Of The Bumblebee. Janek Kochanowski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shinya Aoki !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 47 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Janek Kochanowski!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Hemmingworth and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kochanowski just misses with a punch to the body.

Aoki has gone for a leg lock! Kochanowski slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aoki 's guard.

Aoki connects with a leg kick. Kochanowski looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Aoki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kochanowski's guard.

Aoki is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kochanowski can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

I was talking to Aoki 's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Aoki wants the takedown. Kochanowski is fighting it off but Aoki persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kochanowski's guard against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aoki 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shinya Aoki .
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aoki , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
