Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julio El Toro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russell Lynn! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That kick from Lynn tenderised El Toro's leg. El Toro is trying to keep his angry face on. El Toro throws out a token jab with nothing on it. El Toro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lynn.
El Toro moves out of range of the strikes. Lynn dodges the punch combination from El Toro.
Lynn misses with a lunging right hand
and El Toro cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. El Toro forces Lynn back against the cage and clinches. Lynn misses with a hook from the clinch. Lynn has a couple of punches blocked by El Toro.
Lynn throws a head punch that misses. Lynn misses with a short punch on the inside. Lynn misses with some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lynn tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Lynn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. El Toro cracks Lynn with a good jab. Lynn checks a leg kick. Lynn scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Julio El Toro has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lynn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. El Toro throwing a counter right hand but Lynn manages to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lynn wants to clinch. Lynn dives in for a single leg takedown but El Toro sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A looping hook to the body misses from El Toro. Lynn does a little dance to reset his feet. Lynn tries to land a front kick but El Toro steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. El Toro doesn't manage to clinch there - Lynn circles away.
El Toro moves out of range of the body kick. Lynn ducks right into an uppercut from El Toro.
Lynn is rocked! El Toro lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Lynn is still on wobbly legs! Can El Toro finish him? Lynn lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Julio El Toro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. El Toro is stalking Lynn. Lynn circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from El Toro, and it's lights out! Lynn really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Julio El Toro! In his post fight interview, Julio El Toro started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
