0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick London! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! London has managed to clinch.
London's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. London closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. London controlling the action here. Shepard is looking for a sweep. London is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Still in half guard, London seems content to control. Shepard trying to hold on to London's head to control him but London postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. London perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Shepard is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shepard looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Shepard is looking to control London's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shepard avoid being mounted? London stops Shepard from getting back to his feet.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Rick London seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. London looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shepard!
That's two minutes gone in the round. London working away. London working the ground and pound. London is looking to take a break and control but Shepard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Shepard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. London throwing strikes but Shepard manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. London tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shepard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. London can't do much from the bottom here. A lull in the action here. Shepard is chipping away with strikes.

Let's see if London can do anything to dispel that myth. Shepard sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but London is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Shepard is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. London looks calm but he's in trouble here. Shepard gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. London is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Shepard lets go of the hold and London can pop his arm back in it's socket.
