Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Flaherty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cono McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying McGregor's choice of entrance music: foggy dew. Flaherty is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Flaherty! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cono McGregor! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flaherty avoids the head kick by McGregor.
Flaherty is breathing heavily. McGregor moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Flaherty moves out of range of the body kick from McGregor.
McGregor fails to land with a series of punches.
Flaherty is looking to clinch. We've been hearing reports that Flaherty has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. McGregor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Flaherty as he avoids it easily. McGregor tries a head kick but it misses.
McGregor cracks the inside of Flaherty's front leg. McGregor connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Flaherty has a takedown stuffed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor moves into range and clinches up with Flaherty. McGregor jumps guard but Flaherty turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. McGregor gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Flaherty.

McGregor goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. McGregor gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. McGregor has Flaherty pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Flaherty manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Flaherty tries to land knees in the clinch but McGregor avoids the damage to the body. McGregor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

McGregor is pulling down on Flaherty's head to control his posture. McGregor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McGregor is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Flaherty has managed to free his arm - good work. McGregor is thwarting Flaherty's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cono McGregor dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
McGregor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Flaherty circles away quickly and effectively. A head kick misses from McGregor. McGregor tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Flaherty manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Flaherty blocks a head kick by McGregor.
A combination from McGregor does no damage. McGregor shoots in for a takedown but Flaherty shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. McGregor moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Alex Flaherty is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McGregor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. An attempted straight right counter from Flaherty misses the target. McGregor shoots in but Flaherty avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cono McGregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGregor fails to land with a series of punches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Flaherty fails in his attempt to clinch. McGregor shoots in for a double leg but Flaherty sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Danga de danga de dang - McGregor scores with a four punch combination! Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McGregor. McGregor throws a series of punches but Flaherty avoids them all with ease. Cono McGregor seems to be getting the better of the standup. A combination from McGregor does no damage. Flaherty half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. McGregor throws a one two combo.

Flaherty shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. This has been an exciting period of action! McGregor connects with a solid leg kick.

McGregor shoots in for a takedown but Flaherty shows good takedown defense. McGregor throws a left and a right that both miss

McGregor scores with a decent looking hook. McGregor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Flaherty pinned against the cage. Flaherty gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Flaherty counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Both fighters circling a little - McGregor finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Flaherty steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from McGregor. That one must have hurt. McGregor tries a head kick but it misses.
Flaherty is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McGregor changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. McGregor throws a right and a left that Flaherty avoids nicely. McGregor misses with a wild combination.

Flaherty tries to avoid it but McGregor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Flaherty to the ground. Flaherty escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. McGregor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Flaherty drives through with a takedown into McGregor's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Flaherty trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Flaherty gets to his feet - McGregor follows without any prompting. Flaherty tries to clinch there but McGregor circles away.
McGregor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Flaherty moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McGregor has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McGregor misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McGregor rushes Flaherty and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. McGregor manages to break the clinch.

Cono McGregor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Flaherty takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. McGregor wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. McGregor throws a head kick that half lands.

Cono McGregor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Alex Flaherty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cono McGregor. Flaherty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

McGregor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McGregor wanted to stand there but Flaherty had control of the position. McGregor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McGregor is stalling in the full guard. McGregor preventing the sweep. McGregor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Flaherty, up you get! McGregor looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Alex Flaherty has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Flaherty takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
And that's the end of the fight! Cono McGregor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McGregor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
