Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yasuhiro Akagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kami Kazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akagi comes into the arena with Nash the Slash - American Band blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yasuhiro Akagi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kami Kazi!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kazi misses with a combination
and Akagi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kazi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Akagi throws a wild body kick that Kazi sees coming a mile off.
Akagi avoids the head kick by Kazi.
Akagi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Akagi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kazi back to the cage. Akagi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kazi throws a sloppy head kick and Akagi moves out of range easily.
Kazi throws a hook to the side of Akagi's head but Akagi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kazi throws a jab but it's blocked by Akagi.
Kazi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kazi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Akagi.

Akagi cracks Kazi with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kazi looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Akagi finish him?


Kazi is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Akagi misses with an uppercut. Kazi saw that one coming.
Kazi misses with a body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Akagi darts in and clinches Kazi up against the cage.
Akagi digs a right hand underneath Kazi's ribcage. Kazi let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Kazi blocks a body shot from Akagi.
Akagi misses with a body punch.
Akagi keeps control of Kazi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Akagi lands a right hand.
Akagi tries to work over Kazi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Akagi tries a body shot but Kazi blocks it.
Akagi misses with a body punch.
Akagi stalling against the cage.
Akagi lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kazi or not.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akagi lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Akagi can't find room to land a body shot as Kazi controls the action.
Kazi blocks an uppercut.
Akagi gets through Kazi's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kazi's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Akagi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Akagi misses with a low kick.
Akagi lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akagi throws a jab when Kazi was well out of range.
Kazi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Akagi is looking to land body kicks.
Akagi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kazi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kazi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akagi.
Kazi is trying to counter with his kicks.
Kazi throws a push kick but Akagi slaps the foot to one side.
Akagi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Akagi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kazi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Akagi with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Kazi throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Akagi counters with a nice kick to the body.
Akagi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Akagi checks a low kick from Kazi.
Akagi went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Kazi misses with a low kick.
Kazi looks for the body kick but Akagi saw that one coming.
Kazi misses with a body kick.
Kazi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A slow jab from Kazi misses its intended target.
Akagi throws a body shot but no joy.
Akagi throws a series of punches but Kazi avoids them all with ease.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kazi.
Kazi needs to keep his hands up - Akagi had a free shot at his head there.
Akagi on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Good work by Kazi as he checks the leg kick.
Kazi throws a fast counter high kick but Akagi manages to duck under it in time.
Akagi misses with a hook.
Kazi walks into a straight right hand from Akagi.
Kazi throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Kazi throws a body kick that misses

and Akagi counters with a crisp right hand that drops Kazi! Akagi lets Kazi back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Kazi is still on wobbly legs! Can Akagi finish him?
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Akagi cracks Kazi with a hook to the temple - Kazi is on wobbly legs here! Akagi swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Kazi falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Akagi wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Yasuhiro Akagi!
Yasuhiro Akagi is the new welterweight champion!
Yasuhiro Akagi decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
