Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Von Downs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Weidman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Von Downs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Weidman! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weidman shoots in and drives through. Downs sprawls well. Weidman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Weidman gets in close and instigates a clinch. Weidman manages to pull guard.
Downs slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Weidman is working an open guard so Downs takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weidman moves into the clinch. Weidman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Downs uses from the top position. Weidman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Downs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downs slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Downs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Weidman, up you get! Weidman closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Downs misses with a punch on the inside.
Downs lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Weidman backwards. A right handed body shot lands from Downs.
Weidman has had enough of the clinch but Downs keeps him there for the moment. Weidman avoids a wild elbow strike from Downs. Weidman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Downs walks away with a smile on his face. Weidman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Von Downs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Weidman. Sloppy strikes from Weidman. Those never looked like landing. Good work by Downs as he checks the leg kick. Downs attempts a counter takedown but Weidman avoids it well and moves away. Weidman rushes Downs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Weidman is trying to break the clinch but Downs is controlling him. Weidman managing to block the knees to the body from Downs.
Weidman is trying to pull guard but Downs turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Weidman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Downs gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Weidman looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Downs successfully pulls guard.
Downs wants to stand but Weidman is controlling the position. Downs is adopting a defensive guard. Downs keeping full guard, as Weidman tries to pass. Downs has Weidman pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Weidman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That kick from Downs tenderised Weidman's leg. Weidman is trying to keep his angry face on. Weidman shoots in and drives through. Downs sprawls well. Weidman on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Weidman throws a head kick but Downs moves out of range.
Weidman fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Von Downs will probably get the nod. That's time! Downs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Weidman dives in for a single leg takedown but Downs sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Weidman misses with a head kick.
Downs stuffs the takedown attempt from Weidman. Weidman gets slowly back to his feet. Downs drops down looking for a counter takedown but Weidman sprawls and moves away. Weidman has managed to clinch.
Weidman pulls Downs into guard.

That's going to take a lot out of James Weidman. Weidman is breathing heavily. Downs defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Weidman. It looked like Downs was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Downs darts in and clinches Weidman up against the cage. A short left from Downs. Weidman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Downs smiles and moves away.
Danga de danga de dang - Downs scores with a four punch combination! Downs throws a head kick that misses. Weidman forces Downs back against the cage and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Downs trying to land knees to the body.
Downs lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Downs gets through Weidman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Downs successfully pulls guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Weidman stopping the sweep attempt from Downs. Downs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Weidman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Downs is tightening it up a little... Weidman has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Weidman reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Weidman taps out! Nice BJJ there by Downs!
