Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver Queen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Reed! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Queen slips under a jab from Reed. Queen throws a quick counter head kick but Reed was just out of range. Queen getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Reed avoids the body shot from Queen.
Reed keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Queen misses the jab. Queen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Queen looks to score with a jab to the body but Reed is just out of range. Queen connects with a high kick. Reed takes one to the side of the head.
Queen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Queen clinches up with Reed and pushes him back against the cage. A right hand to the body from Queen.
Queen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Reed can't fight it off and eventually Queen manages to take the fight to the floor. Reed looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Reed wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Queen manages to pass to side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Queen lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Queen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Reed actively working from the bottom here. Queen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Reed has hold of Queen's hands but Queen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Reed looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Queen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Queen is keen to just control but Reed is a slippery customer. Reed wants to control but Queen is keeping busy and won't allow it. Queen winds up and cracks Reed with a swinging punch to the side of the head. That's two minutes gone in the round. Reed is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Queen scores with a couple of nice shots. Queen is nestled in close to Reed, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Queen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Queen working over Reed with some ground and pound. Reed looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Queen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Queen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Queen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Reed with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Reed pushes Queen off, looking to escape but Queen dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Reed is forced to tap! The fight is over!
