Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blake Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Muhammed Castro! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin misses with a takedown attempt and Castro counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Castro wants to take a breather but Griffin is having none of it. Griffin pushes Castro off and gets back to his feet. Griffin darts in looking for a takedown but Castro gets double underhooks and turns Griffin into the cage. Griffin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Blake Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Castro swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blake Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Griffin gets tackled into the cage by Castro. Castro maintains the clinch. Castro gets a trip takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Castro winds up and cracks Griffin with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Castro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Castro looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro not landing any meaningful shots this time. Castro sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Griffin defending well though. Castro wants to control but Griffin is keeping him busy. Griffin is breathing heavily. Castro missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin is in trouble now - Castro has advanced to mount! Castro controlling from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Castro unloading with bombs!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castro is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Griffin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Griffin shrugs it off. Castro controlling from the full mount. Castro thowing shots but they're missing. Castro lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Castro punishing his opponent with strikes. Castro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. BOOM! Castro connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Castro landing strikes from the mount. Castro looking to finish Griffin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Griffin! Castro throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Castro misses with a head shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Castro looking to control and managing it successfully. Castro landing punches. Castro throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Griffin because Castro loaded up on that one. Castro controlling the pace for now. Castro landing strikes from the mount and Griffin is in trouble! Castro with good strikes from the mount here! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Muhammed Castro dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Castro shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Castro showed some decent athleticism there. Castro is figuring out what he wants to do next. Castro trying to pass the guard but Griffin defending well. Castro perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castro missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Castro wants to pass the guard but Griffin is defending well. Griffin is staying active underneath Castro, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro not landing any meaningful shots this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Castro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Castro has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Castro thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Griffin's head. Castro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Castro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Castro advances to half guard. Castro trying to control from half guard but Griffin is working away. Castro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castro scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Castro is trying to control. Griffin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Castro connects with a nice short shot to Griffin's temple. Griffin is refusing to be controlled, as Castro sits in half guard. Castro thows a huge punch but Griffin dodges it nicely.
Castro moves into full mount! Griffin won't be happy about that! Castro controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castro lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Castro landing strikes from the mount. Castro is in the full mount, landing strikes. Castro pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Griffin takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Castro's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
