4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Dunc! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valens scores with a nice strike. Valens instigates a clinch. Valens holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Dunc is looking to take this one to the mat. Valens dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Valens. I was talking to Valens's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Valens pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kyle Dunc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Valens cracks Dunc with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Valens dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dunc. That did some damage! Valens connects with a body shot. Dunc tries to work over Valens's front leg with a kick but Valens checks it. Dunc throws a left and a right that both miss
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Dunc tries a low kick but Valens avoids it. Valens connects with a good right hand that stumbles Dunc. Dunc circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dunc tries to clinch up but Valens circles away and keeps his distance. Valens jabs Dunc to the body, keeping him at a distance. Donk. Valens catches Dunc right on the button with a cross.

The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Dunc sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Valens throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Dunc tries to clinch but Valens moves away and Valens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Valens connects with a solid leg kick. Dunc's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Nice body kick there by Valens. Valens feints and then cracks Dunc's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dunc down. Valens works Dunc's body with a nice hook. Dunc swinging wildly here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dunc crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Valens - the referee stops the clock and Dunc gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Valens. Dunc manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Valens throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Dunc closes the distance looking to clinch and Valens counters with a nice low kick that buckles Dunc's knee momentarily. Dunc moves to clinch but Valens breaks away and Valens counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dunc thinking. A kick lands to the mid section there for Valens. Both fighters circling a little - Valens finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Dunc takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Dunc misses with a left hand and Valens counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Valens digs a good hook to Dunc's body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Valens lands with a shot to the body. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Valens, right into the meat.

Dunc is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag. Nice straight punches there by Valens. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Valens. Valens lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
