We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Lorenzo seems to have got his legs back now.
Lorenzo is looking for a sweep. Abalajon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Abalajon has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Lorenzo shoots in for a takedown but Abalajon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Abalajon counters with a big uppercut that knocks Lorenzo off his feet! Abalajon dives into side control looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abalajon tries to move into full mount but can't pass Lorenzo's legs.
Abalajon is staying tight to Lorenzo's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lorenzo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abalajon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Abalajon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lorenzo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A lull in the action here.
Abalajon decides to take the fight back to the feet.

enabling Abalajon to counter with a crisp jab.

and Abalajon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Abalajon is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Lorenzo rather than just go for the knockout.
Lorenzo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abalajon is fending him off so far but Lorenzo persists. Nope, Abalajon circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
