Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gaius Pollux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Katt Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pollux comes into the arena with Oh, Hello Ghost by Rolo Tomassi blaring out of the sound system. Katt Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson throws a jab when Pollux was well out of range. Johnson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Pollux uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson. Pollux uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson. Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Pollux darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Pollux wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pollux. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pollux is trying to control the action in half guard but Johnson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Pollux prevents Johnson from improving his position. Pollux seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Pollux not landing any meaningful shots this time. Johnson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Pollux is trying to control the action in half guard but Johnson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pollux thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Johnson's head.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pollux blocks a jab. Johnson looks to land a left hand but Pollux moved out of range nicely. Pollux closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pollux trying to control the position but Johnson is working away. Pollux wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson, who protects the arm well. Pollux looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Pollux is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Pollux tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pollux has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pollux is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pollux lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Johnson down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pollux wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy. Pollux working away. Pollux advances nicely into full mount. Johnson is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Johnson tries to hold on but Pollux postures up. Pollux can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pollux looking to finish with strikes here!
Pollux avoids the attempt from Johnson to control. Pollux with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pollux can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice defenses there by Pollux. Pollux slips under a jab from Johnson. A big right from Johnson misses. Johnson is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Gaius Pollux has been cut. Pollux takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but Pollux is out of range. Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pollux avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Pollux checks a low kick from Johnson. Pollux throws a shot from downtown. Johnson moves away and avoids it. Pollux jabbing away but nothing is landing. Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Johnson moves away from the strike by Pollux. Katt Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson throws a nice inside leg kick. Pollux avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Pollux misses. Pollux lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Johnson at a distance.
Pollux misses with a looping right. Johnson misses the jab. Pollux cracks Johnson with an open hand slap. Katt Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pollux defending well as Johnson loads up on a big left hand. Johnson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Pollux. Pollux drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pollux is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pollux wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy. Johnson is trying to control Pollux's posture but Pollux avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pollux is controlling him well. Johnson wants to control but Pollux postures up. Pollux has hold of Johnson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Johnson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Pollux cranks the arm and Johnson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Johnson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
