Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Theron Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henna Van Dyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theron Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Henna Van Dyk! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velasquez gets caught napping as Van Dyk dives in and scores a takedown. Velasquez manages to retain guard. Velasquez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Van Dyk wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Velasquez throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Velasquez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Velasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Velasquez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Van Dyk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Van Dyk wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Velasquez is now in half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Dyk can do anything to dispel that myth. Velasquez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Velasquez cracks Van Dyk with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Theron Velasquez dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Van Dyk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Velasquez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Van Dyk tries to advance position but instead Velasquez slips a leg back in to half guard. Van Dyk stalling away here and it's allowed Velasquez to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Van Dyk wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving. Velasquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez is pulling down on Van Dyk's head. It's preventing any offense from Van Dyk, at least for the moment. Van Dyk trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. Velasquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Van Dyk is one step ahead there. Van Dyk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Velasquez pulls Van Dyk in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Van Dyk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Velasquez to the mat! Velasquez manages to get full guard. Velasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Van Dyk wants to stand but Velasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van Dyk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Van Dyk trying to keep a closed guard but Velasquez is proving a slippery customer.

Velasquez lands a few punches from side control. Van Dyk has one of Velasquez's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Van Dyk is breathing heavily. Velasquez grinds an elbow into Van Dyk's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Henna Van Dyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Dyk throws a head kick that misses and Velasquez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Velasquez gets a clinch. Velasquez tries to circle away but Van Dyk has him pinned against the cage. Velasquez can't break the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Van Dyk's head. Velasquez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Velasquez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Van Dyk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Velasquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Velasquez connects with a couple of short punches. Henna Van Dyk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Theron Velasquez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Velasquez lands a heavy elbow.
And that's the end of the fight! Theron Velasquez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Velasquez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
