Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Burnzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thiago Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Burnzie!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves tries for a takedown but Burnzie sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Burnzie clinches.
Burnzie misses with a hook to the ribs.
Burnzie misses with a hook from the clinch.
Burnzie tries to pull guard but Alves won't allow it.
A short left from Burnzie.
Burnzie misses with a punch to the body.
Burnzie controlling the action here for a moment.
Alves drops down looking for an ankle pick but Burnzie pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alves misses with a takedown attempt - Burnzie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burnzie wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance.

Burnzie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Burnzie throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Burnzie tries to stand but Alves is controlling his head.
Burnzie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Alves pushes Burnzie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Burnzie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Alves tries to buck Burnzie off but Burnzie is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Burnzie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Burnzie is looking to stand but Burnzie has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Alves in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Alves trying desperately to get to his feet.

Burnzie looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Burnzie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burnzie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Burnzie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Burnzie misses with a series of wild punches.
Burnzie wants to clinch.
Burnzie tries to close the distance and clinch but Alves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Burnzie counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Burnzie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Burnzie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Alves trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Alves is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Burnzie is looking to stand up but Alves won't let him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Burnzie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Burnzie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Burnzie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Burnzie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Burnzie lands in his opponent's guard.
Alves throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Alves avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Burnzie looking to pass the guard.
Burnzie wants to stand but Alves has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Burnzie postures up and lands a big shot to Alves's brow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Burnzie wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Alves is controlling Burnzie's posture.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Alves avoids the head kick by Burnzie.
Alves needs to keep his hands up - Burnzie had a free shot at his head there.
Burnzie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Burnzie stands and steps away. Alves gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Burnzie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Burnzie drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Burnzie is looking to take a break and control but Alves is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Burnzie tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Alves tries to escape but Burnzie is in control.

Chuck Burnzie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Burnzie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
