Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arlen Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustav Hansson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hansson has chosen Hammerfall - När Vindarna Viskar Mitt Namn as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arlen Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gustav Hansson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hansson misses with a double jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hansson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Gustav Hansson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hansson lands with a right hand.


It looks like Arlen Wood has been cut.
Hansson misses the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wood looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hansson is fending him off so far but Wood persists. Nope, Hansson circles away and we're back to standing.
Wood really is a fat lump.
Wood throws an overhand right that lands on Hansson's shoulder, as Hansson tries to avoid the shot.
Hansson throws a counter combo.

Hansson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Wood has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hansson is on him like a limpet, forcing Wood back against the cage.

Wood blocks a body shot from Hansson.
Hansson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wood blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Hansson breaks the clinch.
Hansson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wood enables Hansson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wood manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hansson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hansson is looking to work some ground and pound but Wood has wrist control.
Hansson passes Wood's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Wood tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Hansson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hansson uses his free foot to push down on Wood's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wood.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hansson is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Wood is rocked!
Wood has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Wood is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Hansson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Hansson is hanging on to Wood's back as he tries to escape.
The referee is taking a good look at Wood as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Hansson!
Oh Wood is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wood is breathing heavily.

Hansson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Wood seems to have got his legs back now.
Hansson is riding his opponent, not letting Wood buck him off.
Hansson punches Wood on the ear.

Hansson looking to break Wood's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wood remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hansson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Wood tries to escape but Hansson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Wood is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Wood wants to escape the position.
Hansson controlling the position well here. Wood rolled but Hansson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Hansson wants to control the position but Wood frees himself and scrambles - Hansson manages to regain control in side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hansson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Hansson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hansson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Arlen Wood's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hansson lands a big shot that drops Wood! Can he finish him?
Hansson passes into half guard.
Hansson is keen to just control but Wood is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hansson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wood haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hansson is taking a breather. Wood says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gustav Hansson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Wood is looking for a sweep. Hansson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Still in half guard, Hansson seems content to control.

Wood looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Wood is refusing to be controlled, as Hansson sits in half guard.
Hansson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hansson wants to take a breather but Wood is having none of it.
Hansson is looking to advance position but Wood won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hansson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hansson stalling away here and it's allowed Wood to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Hansson lands a couple of digs.

Hansson uses his free foot to push down on Wood's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wood.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hansson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Wood to take his back!

Hansson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Wood taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Hansson.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gustav Hansson!
After the fight, Gustav Hansson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
