Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walton Serrano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Tameifuna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Tameifuna has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Walton Serrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Tameifuna!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tameifuna drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tameifuna looking to sit in guard and control but Serrano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Tameifuna bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Tameifuna shoots in and bounces Serrano off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Serrano pushes Tameifuna off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Serrano closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Tameifuna pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Tameifuna takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Tameifuna closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Serrano has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Serrano kicks off Tameifuna and gets to his feet.
Serrano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tameifuna swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tameifuna let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Tameifuna shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Serrano is looking to clinch.

Tameifuna throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Serrano was covering up waiting for the punch and Tameifuna finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Serrano scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Tameifuna closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Serrano's guard.
Tameifuna really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Serrano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tameifuna is working Serrano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Tameifuna wants to control from the top but Serrano keeps moving.
Serrano manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tameifuna manages to get himself to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tameifuna is looking for a kimura but Serrano is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tameifuna to get the leverage.

Serrano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tameifuna gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Walton Serrano.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Serrano, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
