Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darth Viper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Ward will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darth Viper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aaron Ward! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Viper instigates a clinch. Viper swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Viper's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Viper just leaning against Ward, taking a breather. A short left from Ward. Ward tries to circle away but Viper has him pinned against the cage. Viper tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Viper tries a body shot but Ward blocks it.
Viper keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ward's efforts to push away. Viper doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ward gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Viper.
Viper turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Viper controlling from side mount. Viper misses with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Viper wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ward, who protects the arm well. Ward managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Viper.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Viper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Viper tries to advance position but instead Ward slips a leg back in to half guard. Viper sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ward defending well though. Viper trying to pass the guard but Ward defending well. Viper perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Viper lands with a punch from half guard. Viper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Viper scores with a couple of good hammerfists. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ward can do anything to dispel that myth. Viper winds up and cracks Ward with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Ward keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Viper is nestled in close to Ward, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Viper perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ward is defending against the submission attempts here by Viper.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Viper prevents Ward from improving his position. Ward looks winded! Viper not doing much here.
Viper has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Viper controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Viper lands a big shot there that rocks Ward but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Viper controlling from the full mount. Viper landing strikes from the mount. Viper has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ward's face.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Viper landing strikes from the mount. A nice elbow there by Viper. Viper working the ground and pound effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darth Viper dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Viper clinches up against the cage. Ward is looking to break free of the clinch but Viper has double underhooks. Viper can't get the takedown.
Ward has a couple of punches blocked by Viper.
Viper lands a hook to the side of the head. Viper misses with a punch to the body.
Viper has Ward pushed against the cage. Ward blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ward blocking some punches.
Ward is trying to force a seperation but Viper has the dominant position. Ward tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Viper is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ward pulls him back up using the underhooks. Viper tries to score a body lock takedown but Ward shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darth Viper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ward misses with a punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Viper is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Viper. Viper struggles to land a body shot inside as Ward controls his hands.
Ward makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Viper misses with a short punch on the inside. A head punch on the inside from Viper fails to land. Viper swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Ward prevents a body shot from Viper. Viper effectively controlling the action here. Viper tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Ward lands a hook that snaps the head of Viper backwards. Viper swings wildly with an uppercut but Ward uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Viper misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Viper gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Viper is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ward working a defensive guard but Viper manages to pass into side control anyway.
Viper working the ground and pound but Ward is defending the strikes. Ward is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The ground and pound from Viper seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Viper passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Ward! Ward taking shots to the head. Viper pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Viper sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. BOOM! Viper connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Viper raining down hammerfists from mount. The referee warns Ward that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Viper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Viper content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Viper is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ward to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ward shrugs it off. Ward in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Viper lands with some strikes. Viper working for a submission but Ward is keeping him at bay. Viper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Darth Viper dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Ward defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Viper. Viper moves into the clinch. Ward is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Viper tries to work over Ward's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Ward blocks an uppercut.

Viper jumps back into Ward's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Viper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ward takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ward utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Viper content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Viper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ward can do to turn this around? Viper with a nice head shot there. Viper is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Viper content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Viper scoring with some ground and pound. Viper forces his way into half guard. Viper lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Viper scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Aaron Ward has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Viper lands a nice short elbow. Viper scoring with strikes to the body and head. Ward on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Viper takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Viper winds up and cracks Ward with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Viper not doing much here.
Viper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Darth Viper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight! Darth Viper showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Viper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
