Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kent Duong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz comes into the arena with Forever blaring out of the sound system. Kent Duong is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kent Duong!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Kent Duong has been cut.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Duong as he avoids it easily.
Cruz fails with the takedown.
Duong throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Cruz tumbling to the canvas!

Cruz is rocked!

It looks like Michael Cruz has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duong trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Oh Cruz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cruz keeping full guard, as Duong tries to pass.
Cruz seems to have got his legs back now.
Cruz striking off his back but it's not causing Duong any problems.
Duong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Duong tries to free his leg and advance position but Cruz is retaining full guard.
Duong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Duong postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Duong throws a big right hand that misses.
Duong stopping the sweep attempt from Cruz.
Duong lands a couple of digs.

Cruz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Duong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Duong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cruz's guard.

Duong in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cruz tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Duong!
