Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Askari Volkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Sider! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sider has closed the distance and engaged Volkov in a clinch.
Sider throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Volkovs head. Sider lands a hook to the side of the head. I was talking to Volkov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Sider makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Sider lands with a left to the head. Sider lands a nice uppercut. Sider scores with a shot to the side of Volkov's head. Sider lands with a light punch inside. Sider scores with a nice hook to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Volkov is looking for a takedown. Volkov is trying to maintain a safe position but Sider gets an underhook and turns Volkov into the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Volkov really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Volkov misses with a knee strike.
Volkov is working for takedown but Sider is calmly controlling the position for now. Volkov takes a shot to the head. Sider lands a body shot. A right hand to the body from Sider.
Sider makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Volkov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sider regains guard immediately. Sider striking off his back but it's not causing Volkov any problems. Sider is looking to stand up but Volkov isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Volkov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Volkov prevents Sider from getting back to his feet. Sider throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Sider wants to stand and escape but Volkov is having none of it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Sider has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Kalashnikov MMA Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sider moves into the clinch successfully.
Sider letting Volkov take a breather here. Volkov tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Volkov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sider avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Askari Volkov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sider gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Volkov.
Volkov is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Volkov tries to break the clinch but Sider is controlling the position. Sider lands a body punch in the clinch. Still in the clinch, Sider scores with a nice short uppercut. A right hook to the body lands for Sider.
Sider gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Volkov.
Volkov is breathing heavily. Sider lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Volkov backwards. Volkov tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A nice left hand lands by Sider.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sider pushes Volkov back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Sider lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Nice body punch from Sider - that landed with a thud.

Volkov is rocked! Still in the clinch, Sider scores with a nice short uppercut. Oh Volkov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sider lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Sider lands a big right hand that drops Volkov! The killer instinct kicks in and Sider finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Sider!
