Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sol Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlos Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Aldo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Aldo controls Duffy momentarily but Duffy frees himself.

Duffy distracts Aldo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Aldo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Duffy defends well.
Duffy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo has momentary wrist control but Duffy slips an elbow through the middle.
Duffy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Aldo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duffy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duffy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Aldo's head.
Duffy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Duffy drops back looking for a leg! Aldo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aldo manages to kick Duffy off! Duffy jumps back into Aldo's guard.
Duffy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Aldo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Duffy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Duffy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aldo's guard.
Duffy is controlling the pace.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Aldo is trying to maintain the position but Duffy is very close to passing his half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Duffy stands up from half guard.
Aldo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Aldo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Duffy counters with a body kick.
Duffy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aldo!

Aldo is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Duffy is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Aldo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Duffy is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Duffy extends the arm and Aldo is forced to tap!
