The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puto doesn't manage to clinch there - Alatalo circles away.
We've been hearing reports that Alatalo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Alatalo looks to land a left hand but Puto moved out of range nicely.
Puto tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Alatalo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Alatalo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Puto's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still in half guard, Alatalo seems content to control.
Alatalo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
