Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerry Avala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glen Gall!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avala with a poor takedown

and Gall moves into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Avala appears to be looking for a big counter.
Gall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Avala defends it nicely.
Gall shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Avala but Avala pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Avala or perhaps it was just good defense by Gall, which made it look bad.

Gall tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Avala swivels and escapes.

As Gall backs away, Avala returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Avala stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Avala wants it to stay on the feet.
Avala tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gall defends well and Avala ends up having to push Gall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Avala's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gall creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Avala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Avala.
Avala shoots in but no luck this time.

Gall throws a leg kick but Avala sees it coming and moves out of range.
Gall tries for a takedown but Avala sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Avala misses with a series of wild punches.

Avala clinches up with Gall and pushes him back against the cage.
Avala is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gall gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Avala has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gall after a bit of a struggle.
Gall just leaning against Avala, taking a breather.

Avala pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jerry Avala will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Avala shoots in for a takedown but Gall shows good takedown defense.
Avala slaps away a takedown attempt from Gall, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gall wants to clinch up but Avala keeps it at a distance.
Avala shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gall but Gall pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Avala tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Avala wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gall throws a punch but it's blocked by Avala.

Gall manages to pull guard.
Avala stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gall swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gall is looking for a triangle but Avala pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Avala not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Avala doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Avala manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Avala's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Avala tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gall defends well and Avala ends up having to push Gall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

It looked like Avala was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gall.
Gall throws a head kick but Avala moves out of range.
Avala tries to counter by clinching up but Gall breaks away and moves out of range.

Gall has Avala pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Avala manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Avala changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gall fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gall throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Avala's waist but Avala gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gall off to one side.
Gall is breathing heavily.

Gall clinches with his opponent.
Avala wants to take the fight to the mat but Gall manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Avala is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gall to keep the fight standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Avala misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gall lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glen Gall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Avala will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gall has Avala pressed against the cage, preventing Avala from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gall has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Avala jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gall walks away with a smile on his face. Avala gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jerry Avala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glen Gall.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Avala drops back looking for a leg! Gall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gall manages to kick Avala off! Avala jumps back into Gall's guard.

Avala dives in for a single leg takedown but Gall sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Avala fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gall avoids it really well and circles away.
Gall tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Gall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Avala defends it nicely.
Gall just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAvala.
Gall shoots in and drives through. Avala sprawls well.
Avala darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
No luck for Avala with that takedown attempt.

Gall pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Avala back to the cage. Gall follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Gall shoots in for a double leg but Avala sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gall takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Avala closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gall's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gall is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Avala is controlling him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
