And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Volchenko!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bugurtov throws a leg kick which misses Volchenko's front leg but catches the back leg as Volchenko tries to avoid it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Volchenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bugurtov thinks about countering with a body kick.
Bugurtov moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Bugurtov scores with a nice body kick.

Volchenko has managed to clinch.

Bugurtov gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bugurtov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bugurtov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Volchenko felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Volchenko is trying to get back to full guard.
Bugurtov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Volchenko is looking for a sweep. Bugurtov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bugurtov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bugurtov moves nicely into side control.
Bugurtov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Bugurtov has hold of Volchenko's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Volchenko seems comfortable defending it but Bugurtov has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Volchenko is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Volchenko is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bugurtov couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bugurt Bugurtov!
In his post fight interview, Bugurt Bugurtov started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
