Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Herman Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex Masuku!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masuku throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hardy tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Masuku manages to circle out of the way.
Masuku is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
It looks like Herman Hardy has been cut.
Masuku throws a leg kick but Hardy sees it coming and moves out of range.
As Masuku tries to get set, Hardy tries to push him back and clinch up but Masuku manages to avoid the attempt.
Masuku swinging wildly here.
A quick step to the side and Hardy tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alex Masuku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Masuku throws a combination that misses
and Hardy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hardy blocks a head kick by Masuku.
Masuku throws a leg kick but Hardy checks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hardy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Masuku to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hardy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Masuku looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hardy wants to stand and escape but Masuku is having none of it.
Hardy has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Masuku off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That kick from Masuku tenderised Hardy's leg. Hardy is trying to keep his angry face on.
Masuku waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hardy.
Hardy misses with a takedown
and Masuku counters with a slapping leg kick.
Masuku rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hardy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hardy half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masuku lands with a straight right. Hardy didn't see that one coming.
Masuku scoring well with a low kick there.
Hardy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Masuku but Masuku pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hardy tries to clinch up
and Masuku counters with a left right combination that sends Hardy crashing to the mat - Masuku wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Hardy out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Masuku!
