Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasilica Petran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Petran's choice of entrance music: Julian Jordan - The Takedown. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Li! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vasilica Petran! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Li shoots in and bounces Petran off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Petran being controlled here, momentarily. Petran has control of Li's left arm, preventing Li from doing any damage. Petran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Li. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Li postures up in Petran's guard and throws a big left but Petran blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Li preventing the sweep. Petran controlling Li's posture. Li throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Li throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Li throws a big elbow that misses. Li has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Li drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Li jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Petran has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Li swinging wildly here.
Li moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Li looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Li could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Petran gets tackled into the cage by Li. Li maintains the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petran stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Li is trying to trip Petran. He has hold of a leg but Petran is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Li persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Li trying to control but Petran is working from the bottom. Li wants to stand but Petran is controlling his posture from full guard. Li throws a big elbow that misses. Petran tries to land a sweep but no joy. Petran is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Li working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Petran controlling Li's posture. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Li might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Petran is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Li keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Li is refusing to be controlled, as Petran sits in half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Li manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Petran throws a strike but Li rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Petran holds on and takes a little breather. Li connects with a couple of short punches. Li postures up in Petran's guard and throws a big left but Petran blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Petran pulls Li in close to prevent any damage. Li slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Li is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Petran has escaped the position, nice work there. Petran tries to get back to half guard but can't. Li is chipping away with strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Li tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Li has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Petran parries the strikes from Li easily there. Li is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Petran to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Li throws a right and a left that Petran avoids nicely. A little jabbing left from Petran on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Li tries to work over Petran's front leg with a kick but Petran checks it. A cross from Petran lands. Li rushes Petran and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Li tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Petran's elbow. Li letting Petran take a breather here. Li tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Petran lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Li turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Li wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Petran, who protects the arm well. Petran parries the strikes from Li easily there. Li is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Petran to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round. Petran is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Petran wants to control but Li postures up. Mike Li overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Petran is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Petran manages to get back to half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Li lands a nice short elbow. Petran is looking to control Li's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petran avoid being mounted? Li passes into side control, despite Petran's attempt to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petran avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Li. Petran wants to control but Li postures up. Petran tries to bench press Li off him but Li keeps the position. The strikes coming from Li are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Li working the strikes but Petran uses the opportunity to regain half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Petran manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Li postures up in Petran's guard and throws a big left but Petran blocks it. Petran looking for a sweep. Not yet Petran, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petran lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Li loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Li is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Petran tries to land a sweep but no joy. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petran can do anything to dispel that myth. Li stands up over Petran, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Li with a flurry of punches that miss. Li throws a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Li throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Li looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Petran avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Petran is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Petran lands with a short head shot on the inside. Still in the clinch, Petran scores with a nice short uppercut. Petran avoids the elbow strike from Li, against the cage.

Mike Li dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Petran presses Li against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Petran softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Petran lands a left hand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Petran. Petran has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Li seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Petran can turn it around. A body shot lands from Petran.
Petran lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Li or not. Petran is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petran lands a damaging elbow. Petran pressing his opponent against the cage. Li is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petran can do to turn this around? A short body shot lands from Petran as the two fighters clinch.

Petran lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. A body shot lands from Petran.
Petran gets through Li's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Petran scores with a nice hook to the head. Petran lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Li backwards. Petran is working Li over against the cage. Li gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Petran regains guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Petran looking for a sweep. Not yet Petran, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petran pulls Li in to control the position. Petran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Vasilica Petran has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Petran holds on and takes a little breather. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Petran is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Li has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Petran has managed to get both his arms back between Li's legs - danger averted. Petran works over Li with some ground and pound from guard. Petran lands a couple of decent looking shots. Petran scoring with punches to the head and body. Petran keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Li's head. Li utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Petran landing some decent shots from guard. Petran must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Petran stands up over Li, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mike Li is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Li is rocked! Petran is working Li over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Oh Li is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Petran is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Vasilica Petran comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Li has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
