Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bud Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve McCarnish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bud Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steve McCarnish!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dodson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCarnish but McCarnish pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McCarnish is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Dodson slips a jab and a cross from McCarnish.
McCarnish stuffs the takedown attempt from Dodson. Dodson gets slowly back to his feet.

McCarnish has closed the distance and engaged Dodson in a clinch.

McCarnish has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dodson uses from the top position.
Dodson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dodson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCarnish has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dodson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McCarnish has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dodson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

McCarnish misses with a leg kick

and Dodson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dodson.

Dodson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dodson distracts McCarnish with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McCarnish is looking to stand up but Dodson isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dodson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McCarnish's head.
McCarnish is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dodson gets to his feet - McCarnish follows without any prompting.

Dodson tries to keep at a distance but McCarnish has taken the fight into the clinch.

McCarnish pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dodson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McCarnish throws a head kick but Dodson moves out of range.
It looked like Dodson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
McCarnish will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As McCarnish looks to move away, Dodson throws a big counter combo but McCarnish just gets out of the way.

McCarnish scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
You can see the frustration on Dodson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McCarnish decides to stand back up.

McCarnish closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Dodson pushes McCarnish off and gets back to his feet.
McCarnish looks winded!

McCarnish takes the fight into the clinch.
Dodson prevents McCarnish from breaking the clinch.

McCarnish has clasped his hands together around Dodson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Dodson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

This has been an exciting period of action!
McCarnish tries to break free but Dodson pushes him back against the cage.

Dodson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dodson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McCarnish throws a strike but Dodson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

McCarnish wants to get back to his feet but Dodson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McCarnish is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Dodson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

McCarnish looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Dodson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bud Dodson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McCarnish lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
McCarnish tries to bum rush Dodson with a series of wild strikes but Dodson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McCarnish throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Dodson drives through with a takedown into McCarnish's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

McCarnish can't find room to land a body shot as Dodson controls the action.
McCarnish is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McCarnish wants to get back to striking at distance but Dodson won't allow it.

Dodson is fighting off a takedown attempt but McCarnish is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dodson to the mat. Dodson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Dodson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
McCarnish is trying to break free.

Dodson has McCarnish pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McCarnish manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dodson can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bud Dodson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McCarnish pulls guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dodson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dodson is in close to McCarnish's body, working some short punches and elbows.

McCarnish closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bud Dodson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Dodson counters by clinching up.

McCarnish buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

McCarnish gets a takedown into half guard.

Dodson kicks off McCarnish and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dodson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Horrible takedown attempt by Dodson or perhaps it was just good defense by McCarnish, which made it look bad.

Dodson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McCarnish kicks off Dodson and gets to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice takedown defense from McCarnish. No joy for Dodson on that attempt.

Dodson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McCarnish manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

McCarnish has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dodson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Dodson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Steve McCarnish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McCarnish fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dodson, pushing him back against the cage.
McCarnish lands with a short shot to the head.

McCarnish breaks from the clinch.

Dodson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McCarnish to the ground. Dodson is now in McCarnish's guard.

McCarnish pushes Dodson off and scrambles back to his feet.

McCarnish misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Dodson counters by moving into the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McCarnish stops Dodson from standing up.
McCarnish content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
McCarnish is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Dodson is pulling down on McCarnish's head. It's preventing any offense from McCarnish, at least for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McCarnish controls from within his opponent's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Steve McCarnish.
I think Dodson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
