The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Curtis leaves Dickinson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Curtis swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Dickinson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Curtis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Dickinson tries to free his leg and advance position but Curtis is retaining full guard. Dickinson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Curtis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dickinson on the ground. Curtis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dickinson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dickinson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dickinson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Curtis is trying to escape and Dickinson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Curtis is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dickinson! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). David Dickinson! An out of breath David Dickinson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. Isaac Curtis was interviewed post fight and said 'Congratulations to my opponent, I see him holding the Bushido belt one day. One more thing, I would like to officially announce my retirement from combat sports. I have had a great run in MMA, and I feel like my time here is done. On to the next'.
