Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleveland Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Sergeev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivan Sergeev will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cleveland Byrd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Sergeev!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrd tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sergeev is able to avoid easily.
Sergeev is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Sergeev avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Byrd throws a leg kick but Sergeev sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Byrd tries a head kick but it misses.
And Sergeev tries to counter it with a takedown but Byrd pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Sergeev checks a leg kick nicely.
As Byrd backs off Sergeev throws a huge counter combo but Byrd manages to avoid it all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Byrd.
Byrd throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Byrd throws a leg kick but Sergeev sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Sergeev with the counter takedown but Byrd avoids it easily.
Cleveland Byrd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Byrd tries to clinch but Sergeev is having none of it.
Sergeev changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Byrd tries a head kick but it misses.

Byrd pushes Sergeev up against the cage in a clinch.
Byrd prevents a body shot from Sergeev.

Byrd scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sergeev looks like he's trying to stand up.

Byrd is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sergeev sees it coming and defends easily.

Byrd seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Byrd throws a strike but Sergeev avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Byrd with a flurry of punches that miss.
Byrd postures up in Sergeev's guard and throws a big left but Sergeev blocks it.
Byrd keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sergeev's head.
Byrd is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sergeev has momentary wrist control but Byrd slips an elbow through the middle.
Byrd throwing strikes but missing.
Sergeev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Byrd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sergeev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Byrd showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Byrd working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Byrd motions for Sergeev to come forward. Byrd throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Byrd closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Byrd lands in his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Byrd lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cleveland Byrd dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Byrd throws a lazy head kick
and Sergeev counters with a one-two to the body.

Byrd closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sergeev quickly recovers to half guard.
Cleveland Byrd overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Byrd works his foot free and advances to mount.
Byrd lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Byrd cracks Sergeev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Byrd lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A nice elbow there by Byrd.
Sergeev is breathing heavily.

Byrd controlling his opponent.
Byrd scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Byrd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sergeev can do to turn this around?

Byrd is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Byrd!
