PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Debrine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magomed Ahmadaliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Debrine's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Best. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Debrine!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magomed Ahmadaliev!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahmadaliev throws a head kick that misses.

Ahmadaliev dives in and scores a takedown into Debrine's guard.
Debrine wants to sweep but no luck.
Ahmadaliev connects with a couple of short punches.
Ahmadaliev controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Ahmadaliev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ahmadaliev stands up and waves to Debrine to follow him.
Debrine will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Ahmadaliev has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Debrine is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Debrine jumps guard and drags Ahmadaliev to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Debrine is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Debrine is trying to control the position but Ahmadaliev postures up.
Ahmadaliev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Debrine is pushing Ahmadaliev up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Debrine is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ahmadaliev gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Debrine looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Ahmadaliev is trying to trip Debrine. He has hold of a leg but Debrine is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ahmadaliev persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ahmadaliev drops back looking for a leg! Debrine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Debrine manages to kick Ahmadaliev off! Ahmadaliev jumps back into Debrine's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Debrine throws a front kick aimed at Ahmadaliev's knee but Ahmadaliev avoids it well.

Debrine closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ahmadaliev did well to prevent Debrine getting side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Debrine controls Ahmadaliev momentarily but Ahmadaliev frees himself.
