Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Holly Shiet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Holly Shiet! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz connects with a nice looking jab.
Diaz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Diaz cracks Shiet with an open hand slap. Shiet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A jab lands there for Diaz. Shiet falls off balance throwing a combination
and Diaz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Diaz stalks Shiet and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Shiet's face. Shiet staggers backwards, shaken. Shiet needs to keep his hands up - Diaz had a free shot at his head there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Diaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shiet.
Shiet takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Shiet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Shiet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively. Diaz with a hook. Shiet misses with a few strikes there.
Diaz digs a good hook to Shiet's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shiet rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Shiet looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Diaz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Shiet tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Shiet takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shiet. Shiet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Diaz lands with a nice body punch. Shiet misses with a double jab
and Diaz counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Diaz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shiet on the side of the head.
Shiet is rocked! Diaz is pawing at Shiet, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Shiet's nose. Shiet is badly hurt! Diaz pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Shiet tries desperately to hold on but Diaz is relentless in his assault! As Shiet receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Diaz away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Diaz! A relieved looking Nick Diaz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
