Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fist Mcgruff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evander Boston!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgruff lands a right hook to the body.
Mcgruff connects with a good right hand that stumbles Boston. Boston circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Boston shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Boston showed some decent athleticism there.
Boston not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Boston thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mcgruff's head.
Boston is thwarting Mcgruff's attempts to control the position.

Boston is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mcgruff wants to control but Boston is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boston is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mcgruff has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boston slips a nice elbow through Mcgruff's hands, connecting with Mcgruff's forehead.

Boston drops an elbow to the side of Mcgruff's head.
Boston missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Boston is thwarting Mcgruff's attempts to control the position.
Boston with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Mcgruff looking for submissions off his back.

Boston is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mcgruff doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Boston.
Mcgruff is staying active underneath Boston, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mcgruff looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mcgruff trying to hold on to Boston's head to control him but Boston postures up.
Mcgruff blocking the ground and pound attempt from Boston.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Boston is trying to control the action in half guard but Mcgruff is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Boston is looking to advance position but Mcgruff won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boston slips a jab and a cross from Mcgruff.
Boston walks into a jab.
Boston's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mcgruff connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Boston scrambles back to his feet.

Boston gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boston lands an elbow inside.

Boston gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mcgruff regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Boston.

Boston got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mcgruff has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boston has managed to get both his arms back between Mcgruff's legs - danger averted.
Mcgruff looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mcgruff is working hard here to advance position.

Mcgruff is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Boston frees his head nicely. Oh but Mcgruff has switched to an armbar! Boston is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Fist Mcgruff!
After the fight, Fist Mcgruff was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
