PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam Bradbury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Bradbury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bradbury has closed the distance and engaged Stevens in a clinch.
Stevens blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Stevens tightens his grip and picks Bradbury up, before dumping him to the ground. Bradbury manages to land in guard.
Stevens throws a big right hand that misses.
Stevens is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevens forces his way into half guard.
Bradbury is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stevens sitting and controlling from the half guard.
It looks like Stevens might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stevens's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Stevens is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bradbury has managed to free his arm - good work.
Stevens performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Stevens is working for a submission of some sort.
Stevens missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bradbury wants to get back to full guard but Stevens has mounted him!
Bradbury wants to control but Stevens is having none of it.
Stevens controlling from mount.

Stevens goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bradbury turns into him and now he's in Stevens's guard.
Bradbury has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stevens bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bradbury's guard.

Bradbury wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bradbury has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Stevens has passed into side control.
Stevens content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Stevens lands an elbow.
Bradbury tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stevens wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Stevens tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stevens has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stevens is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bradbury has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bradbury on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bradbury tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stevens wants to control but Bradbury is keeping him busy.
Bradbury tries to improve position but can't.
Stevens scoring with punches and elbows.
Stevens taking a breather here.
Stevens landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Stevens looks up at the clock and then as Bradbury takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stevens smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bradbury tries to bench press Stevens off him but Stevens keeps the position.

Stevens tries for a kimura but Bradbury is defending well.
Bradbury is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stevens off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Stevens dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Bradbury fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stevens to the ground. Bradbury is now in Stevens's guard.
Bradbury knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stevens on the ground.
Stevens looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevens, not yet.
Stevens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stevens lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Bradbury is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stevens postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bradbury keeping moving, preventing Stevens from controlling successfully.
Bradbury wants to control but Stevens passes easily into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stevens landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stevens looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stevens takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bradbury tries to kick Stevens off but Stevens keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Stevens is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bradbury is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mike Stevens!
